Queensland Moto Park (Wyaralong) construction progress report
The major regional facility, located only one hour from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, will open in time for the Christmas Holidays and is an answer to the problem of decreasing legal riding areas for off-road motorcycle riders in Queensland. Queensland Moto Park will be built in stages of development to continually improve the 745 hectare property, with the first stage of Queensland Moto Park to be completed for the official opening.
Stage 1 will consist of three Motocross tracks, one smaller Junior track, a PeeWee track, 50 kilometres of trail loops and a Freestyle MX area. Basic camping facilities will be provided with an amenities block and an on-site managers residence will ensure security of the park at all times.
"The Queensland Moto Park team are very excited to be this close to opening in December. It has taken years from planning to development, while having the support of the Queensland Government and Council of Mayors (SEQ) in conjunction with Motorcycling Queensland, we will be able to deliver on a promise to offer a high class off-road motorcycling area in Queensland," Motorcycling Queenslands General Manager, Lindsay Granger said.
During construction in 2011, Queensland Moto Park has organised specific public events including the open day to have real-world Noise Testing, the KTM 2012 Motorcycle Launch and most recently the Red Bull Lost and Found promotion to test the facilities and gain specific promotion before opening. "The pre-opening events we have hosted were a great way to get instant feedback on the tracks and facilities we will offer in the future from motorcycle manufacturers to riders of all ages and skill levels," Track Builder and Professional Freestyle MX rider, Matt Schubring said.
"It has been a key component to understanding the publics perception and what the riders themselves want to see at the park."
The Queensland Moto Park at Wyaralong is currently being developed as a joint initiative between the Queensland Government, Council of Mayors (SEQ) and Motorcycling Queensland.
